Earlier this summer, the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk announced they were closing one of their classic coasters, Hurricane. Well, it is now official that Hurricane’s successor is a Maurer Sohne spinning coaster, called Undertow.

Advertised as “the only spinning coaster in Northern California” the press release really does a good job of playing up what is really a simple coaster.

“A spinning coaster is a very unique ride experience, we know our visitors are going to love it,” said Boardwalk community relations director Kris Reyes. “Every ride on Undertow is different, you can definitely expect the unexpected.

I personally think that this model of coaster is great for this type of park, and I really like the colour scheme for this coaster.

Expect Undertow to start sending riders spinning out, next Summer.
